Frequently Asked Questions

Can I eat or drink while in labor?

Yes — In low-risk births, eating light foods and staying hydrated is safe and can help maintain energy and support labor.

Labor is physically demanding, and light food and fluids help maintain energy, support contractions, and prevent fatigue or low blood sugar. We recommend easily digestible foods (like fruit, broth, smoothies, toast, or yogurt) and sipping water or electrolyte drinks as desired.

Can I bring my own Doula?

Yes — you may bring your own doula, or you’re welcome to use one of ours. Just let your midwife know so we can coordinate.

Can I choose a water birth?

Yes — we have a built-in water birth tub. If you’re interested and it’s appropriate for your pregnancy and labor, let your midwife know so we can plan for it.

How many support people can I have at my birth?

We don’t place a strict limit on support people. This is your birth, and who you invite is a personal choice. We simply ask that anyone present is respectful, supportive, and healthy at the time of your birth.

Children need to be supervised by someone that is not mom or dad – they have to be willing to miss the birth

Can I request an all female staff?

Yes — you may request that all members of your care team be female for both prenatal visits and your birth. This does mean that our Physician would not be involved in your care, but the choice is entirely yours. Our priority is that you feel safe, respected, and comfortable.

How does pricing work?

Pricing varies depending on the type of care you choose, and we want to make sure you have the most current information. Please visit our Pricing Page or Contact us directly so we can guide you.

Do you offer newborn vaccines, Vitamin K, or eye ointment?

We do not provide routine vaccines.

Vitamin K and eye ointment are available by request and only given with parental consent.

Can I have delayed cord clamping after the baby is born?

Yes, delayed cord clamping is a standard practice at our facility. We support this practice as it allows for the transfer of additional blood from the placenta to your baby, which can provide important health benefits, such as improving iron levels and supporting better circulation. We follow evidence-based guidelines to ensure that both you and your baby receive the best care during and after delivery.
